Top States for Loyal & Wealthy Donors

Blackbaud has a tremendous amount of data about the nonprofit sector. Sometimes that leads to very valuable insights into what’s happening. Sometimes it’s just ambient awareness or trivial trivia. What you do with the information makes all the difference.

Today we’ll take a look which states have the highest percentage of donors giving five or more years and donors with annual incomes greater than $100,000. This data comes from the our donorCentrics Internet Giving Benchmarking group and looks across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This group is comprised of 14 very large nonprofit organizations with data from 2009.

Donor Demographics from Blackbaud

Compare these trends to your own donor demographics and you will get a lot of value. That’s the power and importance of benchmarking.

Notes: Demographic characteristics of 2009 donors, broken down by the donor’s state of residence, including the District of Columbia. Based on an aggregate of all donors from all organizations. Excludes donors giving $1,000 or more in 2009. Excludes donors whose state is unknown.
